Assay Information
An antirat GMCSF coating antibody is adsorbed onto microwells. Rat GMCSF present in the sample or standard binds to antibodies adsorbed to the microwells. A biotinconjugated antirat GMCSF antibody is added and binds to rat GMCSF captured by the first antibody. Following incubation unbound biotin conjugated antirat GMCSF antibody is removed during a wash step. StreptavidinHRP is added and binds to the biotin conjugated antirat GMCSF antibody. Following incubation unbound StreptavidinHRP is removed during a wash step, and substrate solution reactive with HRP is added to the wells. A coloured product is formed in proportion to the amount of rat GMCSF present in the sample or standard. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured at 450 nm. A standard curve is prepared from 7 rat GMCSF standard dilutions and rat GMCSF sample concentration determined.

About
Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.
