Assay Information
An antimonkey IL6 coating antibody is adsorbed onto microwells. Monkey IL6 present in the sample or standard binds to antibodies adsorbed to the microwells. A biotinconjugated antimonkey IL6 antibody is added and binds to monkey  IL6 captured by the first antibody. Following incubation unbound biotin conjugated antimonkey IL6 antibody is  removed during a wash step. StreptavidinHRP is added and binds to the biotin conjugated antimonkey IL6 antibody. Following incubation unbound StreptavidinHRP is removed during a wash step, and substrate solution reactive with HRP is added to the wells. A coloured product is formed in proportion to the amount of monkey IL6 present in the  sample or standard. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured at 450 nm. A standard curve is prepared from 7 monkey IL6 standard dilutions and monkey IL6 sample concentration determined.

Gene
Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is an interleukin that acts as both a pro-inflammatory cytokine and an anti-inflammatory myokine. In humans, it is encoded by the IL6 gene. Recombinant, rec. E. coli interleukin-6 for cell culture or antibody production.
Description
Rhesus Monkeys proteins are often measured by ELISA on serum or plasma since consensus epitopes with the human ELISA are used for producing the antibodies of these ELISA test kits. Often cDNA of monkeys is used as alternative to human cDNA as a model for drug development. Monkeys are generally considered to be intelligent, particularly Old World monkeys.
