Assay Information
An antihuman IL2 coating antibody is adsorbed onto microwells. Human IL2 present in the sample or standard binds to antibodies adsorbed to the microwells. A biotinconjugated antihuman IL2 antibody is added and binds to human IL2 captured by the first antibody. Following incubation unbound biotin conjugated antihuman IL2 antibody is  removed during a wash step. StreptavidinHRP is added and binds to the biotin conjugated antihuman IL2 antibody. Following incubation unbound StreptavidinHRP is removed during a wash step, and substrate solution reactive with HRP is added to the wells. A coloured product is formed in proportion to the amount of human IL2 present in the  sample or standard. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured at 450 nm. A  standard curve is prepared from 7 human IL2 standard dilutions and human IL2 sample concentration determined.

Modern humans (Homo sapiens, primarily ssp. Homo sapiens sapiens). Depending on the epitopes used human ELISA kits can be cross reactive to many other species. Mainly analyzed are human serum, plasma, urine, saliva, human cell culture supernatants and biological samples.

Gene
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is an interleukin, a type of cytokine signaling molecule in the immune system. It is a protein that regulates the activities of white blood cells (leukocytes, often lymphocytes) that are responsible for immunity. IL-2 is part of the body's natural response to microbial infection, and in discriminating between foreign ("non-self") and "self". IL-2 mediates its effects by binding to IL-2 receptors, which are expressed by lymphocytes. Rec. E. coli interleukin-2 for T cell culture or antibody production is supplied by GENTAUR. Free samples on request.
