Assay Information
An antirat IL1alpha coating antibody is adsorbed onto microwells. Rat IL1alpha present in the sample or standard  binds to antibodies adsorbed to the microwells. A biotinconjugated antirat IL1alpha antibody is added and binds to rat IL1alpha captured by the first antibody. Following incubation unbound biotin conjugated antirat IL1alpha antibody is removed during a wash step. StreptavidinHRP is added and binds to the biotinconjugated anti rat IL1alpha antibody. Following incubation unbound StreptavidinHRP is removed during a wash step, and substrate solution reactive with HRP is added to the wells. A coloured product is formed in proportion to the amount of rat IL1alpha present in the sample or standard. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured  at 450 nm. A standard curve is prepared from 7 rat IL1alpha standard dilutions and rat IL1alpha sample concentration determined.
Description

About
Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.
